SRIYHA U16 Details
Southern Rhode Island Youth Hockey Association will be fielding a U16 Midget team to participate in the SNEHC for the upcoming 2018-2019 season. This will be one ½ season Smythe Level Team. The Head Coach is Pete Chabot. Players can expect 2 practices per week (one full sheet), 14 (+playoffs) games in the SNEHC and can choose to concurrently participate in our High School Prep Program for an additional 2 full ice practices / week. The cost for this half season team ONLY: $ 500
The cost for this half season team AND High School Prep: (1/2 season + $175 = $675)
The cost for HS Prep ONLY: $275
There will be 2 tryout dates at Boss Arena for U16 at no cost:
There is no tryout for the HS prep program, it is first come first serve, maximum enrollment 30 skaters, 4 goalies.
High School Prep Program Details
SRIYHA’s Midget HS Prep program begins on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 and runs through Thursday, November 8, 2018 (14 ice hours). The program will skate 2 times per week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 9-9:50 pm. This program is in its 4th year and is run by Jon Hendricks, Assistant Coach, URI Men's Ice Hockey. The cost to enroll in this program is $275 including a practice jersey. There is no tryout for the HS prep program, it is first come first serve, maximum enrollment 25 skaters, 4 goalies.

Coach Jon Hendricks is our Midget HS Prep Program Director. Coach Hendricks is in his 6th season as Assistant Coach of the University of Rhode Island Men’s hockey team. He holds a Level 4 coaching certification with USA Hockey and has an extensive background working with Midget aged players. Prior to his move to Rhode Island, Coach Hendricks served as the Head Coach at Downingtown East HS in Pennsylvania for 8 years. During the 2010 season, he led them to an undefeated season, Flyer’s Cup Championship and a runner-up finish in the Pennsylvania state tournament.
Additionally, he coached the nationally ranked Jr Flyers Bantam teams from 2010-2012 and worked with the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation (ESYHF) at the Philadelphia Flyers practice facilities.
