Learn to Play (Level 4)

Level 5/6 - 7AM

Level 1/2 - 8AM

Level 3/4 - 9AM

Sunday October 29th 

Level 1/2 - 3PM

Level 3/4 - 4PM

Level 5/6 - 5PM

Schedule: Saturdays & Sundays

The Learn to Skate Program was developed to acclimate younger players to the ice and a hockey environment and make them comfortable with this new experience. In addition the smaller teaching group size will provide more individual instruction. The Learn to Skate Program is a transitional program into the House League Program.

GENERAL INFORMATION
•  Saturday Mornings (Generally)
•  Sunday Afternoons (Generally)
•  All sessions are at Boss Arena

One parent or responsible adult is required to be in the rink anytime their child is on the ice.There are situations, such as sickness or injury which would require players to leave the ice.

*** This requirement is strictly enforced! ***

EQUIPMENT
Each player is required to have the following properly fitted equipment. 
•  Hockey skates which have been sized for the player's feet
•  HECC approved helmet, with a full face mask, properly fitted for the player
•  Elbow and knee pads ( worn underneath outer clothing )
•  Gloves (winter gloves are OK)
•  Do not overdress your child , normally a sweatshirt and sweat pants are sufficient.

 

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The program will concentrate on teaching the basic skating skills in a non-threatening environment. The following basic skating skills will be taught and emphasized during the program:
•  Hockey stance and balance
•  Forward skating
•  Gliding
•  Introduction to stopping
•  Introduction to backwards skating
